The Best of 32804 captures the character of College Park

The votes are in! The Best of 32804 Contest was a huge success with 11,440 votes cast by you, the reader.

Our goal was to give College Park a platform to speak its truth and reward those in the community that make the 32804 so highly regarded.

To maintain the integrity of the voting system, we used a third party application, Second Street Voter’s Choice, to conduct the polls and tally the votes. However, all nominees were added by our readers.

It goes without saying that every nominee featured on the ballot is a valued individual or business in the College Park community.

Furthermore, we would like to emphasize that we didn’t call the contest “Best of 32804” to represent a competition where there is a winner or a loser. Rather, the “Best of 32804” catalogues the people and businesses that bring out the best in College Park.

What the results reveal is a well-rounded composite of what comes to mind when people think of College Park: the local shop owner, the familiar face that leads each business, the friendly bartender, the diverse cuisine, and the PTA mom.

As you read, we encourage you to reflect on how your encounters with these people and at these establishments have shaped your College Park experience.

And the winners are…..

MOST KID FRIENDLY

Best of 32804:Tijuana Flats

Back in 1995, a college kid with absolutely no restaurant experience decided he wanted to open a restaurant — a Tex-Mex restaurant. Everyone thought he was a little crazy, but it turns out that’s just what the restaurant landscape needed at the time — the weird, the wild, the insanely great food of Tijuana Flats. Kids and parents alike love the casual atmosphere, and “Taco Tuesdays” are a big favorite for the whole family. tijuanaflats.com
